The Flatiron Building IS Ready For Its First Residents

TRANSCRIPT:
In the heart of Manhattan stands one of New York's most iconic buildings.
For the first time since it was built, after years of renovation, people will be able to live here.
We're taking you inside for an exclusive look.
Hello and welcome to the Flatiron Building.
Follow me. We're here on the twelfth floor, in a four-bedroom, four-bathroom apartment. Here, at the tip of the building, you're right in the heart of New York.
An exceptional address. Shaped like a clothes iron, the building is a dream for buyers, especially since so few apartments are available.
The 24-story building will house 36 new apartments with three to five bedrooms. Prices start at 13 million euros, and you can move in as early as this fall.
At that price, the amenities live up to the address: a custom kitchen, a luxurious bedroom with a king-size bed, a bathtub with city views, and a pool. Buyers are coming from all over the world.
We've had a lot of interest in New York, but also across the country and internationally, from people who understand and appreciate the chance to own something so rare: a piece of an iconic New York landmark.
Built in 1902, the Flatiron had only ever housed businesses, never residents. For this journalist who specializes in the building, the transformation was almost inevitable.
It's something we're seeing all over New York. Today, it's very difficult for older buildings and small businesses to survive.
Economically, it was the only option for this building, which, incidentally, has never made money.
Many of the apartments have already found buyers. For those still available, expect to pay between 13 and 52 million euros.
